ENGLOBE concentrates on four key aspects or scientific fields of Global History, which are interrelated and which will be dealt with in an interdisciplinary mode:
• comparative history and transfers of knowledge and sciences;
• comparative patterns of perception;
• values in hybrid cultural spaces;
• extra-European and European approaches to the key concept “evolution”.
These scientific areas, which will be dealt with in four thematic work groups, will be connected through transversal methodological and research objectives:
• collecting key works and methodologies on Global History;
• mapping views on Europe and the European Enlightenment from outside;
• comparing forms of Enlightenment beyond the European Enlightenment;
• compatibility and non-compatibility of values and standards;
• forms of cultural and religious ascriptions;
• discussing problems of defining “European” and “extra-European”.
