Training

The ENGLOBE training programme combines various elements of local and network-wide training with complementary professional and academic skills.

Each dissertation is supervised using a cotutelle model. Fellow researchers choose two supervisors from the partner institutions. One supervisor serves as a mentor, selected by the fellow researcher. Mentors act as a career advisor and scientific guide, providing both personal and professional development. ENGLOBE provides certificates explicitly highlighting each participant’s international training in both scientific and intercultural competencies.
All ENGLOBE research fellows are integrated into the local graduate and teaching programmes of the partner institutions they work with.
E-lectures and e-seminars provide general as well as specialized knowledge for our researchers. The electronic course ensures scientific qualification in the fields of Global History and European Intellectual History. Different approaches and methodologies are integrated into the interdisciplinary framework of the programme, and the international networks provides myriad perspectives and resources.

There are two three-months-periods of secondments to extra-European associated partners as well as to non-academic partner institutions. Because the umbrella organization, European Cultural Institute EUNIC, is a part of the ENGLOBE supervisory board, close consultation concerning the implementation of working visits is guaranteed.

Additional training provided:

    * introductory courses in e-platforms, e-learning, and e-communication
    * presentation and moderation techniques
    * European project management, digital libraries, intercultural communication, and European cultural policies
    * external experts on national foundations and project funding opportunities
    * female fellow researchers have the opportunity to take part in an Academic Career Mentoring Programme
